David Chevan & Warren Byrd



List Members in the Connecticut/Massachusetts/Long Island/Rhode Island (and 
beyond) area:

   On Sunday, February 25th at 2 p.m., Congregation Adath Israel presents 
bassist David Chevan and pianist Warren Byrd in concert. The duo has been 
working together since 1997 playing Jewish and African-American sacred music. 
They have recorded 2 Cds for the Reckless CD label. The latest, "LET US BREAK 
BREAD TOGETHER", was issued in late November 2000 and has received wide 
critical acclaim. 
    Dr. Chevan is an Associate Professor of Music at Southern Connecticut State 
University where he conducts the University?s Creative Music Orchestra. As a 
musician, Chevan has worked with Giacomo Gates, the late Jaki Byard, Ali 
Ryerson, Frank London (of The Klezmatics), and many more. He leads several 
ensembles, Bassology and the Afro-Semitic Experience, plus is co-leader (with 
pianist Rex Cadwallader) of the Art of the Trio. 

    Warren Byrd is an adjunct Professor of Jazz History at Briarwood College, 
an accompanist for the School of the Hartford Ballet, the Hartford Camerata, 
and the Greater Hartford Academy for the Performing Arts. He also has 
accompanied and directed several gospel choirs in the Greater Hartford area. 
His performing resume includes working with jazz great Archie Shepp, Steve 
Davis, and others. Byrd plays alongside Chevan in Bassology and the 
Afro-Semitic Experience. 

    This is a great opportunity to bring your family and friends, hear some
