Looking for a cantor for a mid-size (500 families) Conservative synagogue,
Temple Israel in Swampscott, Mass., about 20 minutes north of Boston.
Duties include davening on Shabbat, High Holidays, and Festivals, reading
Torah (except when you can get others to do so), and teaching b'nai mitzvah
(usually 15-20 per year, but this year there are only 10). If possible,
cantor should work with youth and adult choirs, sing with preschoolers, and
participate in the events of the North Shore Interfaith Choir, which includes
members of the local Congregational and Baptist churches.
We are accepting applications both from ordained cantors and from those who
otherwise know their stuff.
Interested? Or, know someone who might be interested? You can email me back
(cantorkenr (at) aol(dot)com), or contact Temple Israel directly:
phone: 781-595-6635 (talk to Rabbi Earl Kideckel, Exec. Dir. Beth Hoffman,
or me, Cantor Ken Richmond)
fax: 781-595-0033
web site (I think it's running): www.templeisraelswampscott.org
