This song was collected from a Jewish orphan in a Lublin (Poland)
orphanage after the War.
The lyrics wound up in an Argentine Jewish newspaper,
where they were set to music by Bernardo Feuer.
Montreal singer/actress/director Dora Wasserman
taught the song to Ruth Rubin, who recorded it.
A version (in authentic Lodz/Czenstochov Polish-Yiddish dialect)
appears on my Yiddish Americana World Music CD,
"Transmigrations"/"Gilgul" (Kame'a Media 7001, -- 1996).

This song ( and others), where the word "victim" is
used apparently as an epithet, in his so-called review of the CD,
were dismissed by our Moderator for not being about
"strong people".

"Argets bay a boymele
Argets bay a ployt
Ligt mayn brider Shloymele
Fun a daytsh getoyt"

"Somewhere by a tree
Somewhere by a gate
Lies my brother Shloymele
Killed by a German"
