Last year, the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band sponsored a weekend workshop
which included, amongst other things, a keynote speech by Theodore Bikel.
His take was that for many Jews, the klezmer revival has provided a bridge
to Jewish culture that avoided having to learn a language. Just thought you
might find this related viewpoint interesting.
