Wolf,

I wonder if the same sort of comments could be made of the Italian of
Jan Peerce and Richard Tucker in Puccini and Verdi operas.

Along the lines of Jewish/Italian crossover:
There is an Italian Fiddler.
I believe that somewhere on my shelves there is an LP of Jewish songs
sung in Italian.
And there is Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
