I don't know how many times I've heard what I thought had to be Miles and
have it turn out to be Mark Isham or somebody. But someone like, say,
Zappa, even my wife (who correctly claims to have little facility for this
sort of thing) can get, because he's so, well, inimitable. Maybe Brandwein
is just like that. But what kills me about his music is not so much the
clarinet playing, as the way it's constructed.
