De shtoop?

I'm hoping someone out there could help me out with some information
about a song. My dad barely remembers it from his childhood; his
grandmother sang it to him to help him get to sleep. He can recall some
fragments of the lyric and the tune of the verse. The lyrics he remembers
are (and PLEASE forgive my wretched Yiddish):
Ut ist de (street?)
Und ut is de shtoop
Ut is de maydelah was ich hat lieb...
The melody is in 6/8. In C minor it would go something like this (each
note is an eighth note; quarter notes or longer have the additional
eighths represented with underlines, e.g. F _ _ would be a dotted
quarter):
C C D Eb _ F / G G Ab G _ _ / Ab Ab Bb C1 Bb Ab / C1 G G G _ _ /
F F G Ab G F / Eb Eb D C _ g / g bnatural C D Eb D / C _ _ _ _ _ /
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
