My father used to tell this story: An Oriental despot commanded a performance
by a brass band but disliked intensely what he heard and, enraged, commanded
the musicians to ... put their instruments where the sun don't shine.  The
narrator says, "The tuba player bowed his head and shuffled his feet, as did
the cornet and bass drum.  And there I stood with my *&^%$ piccolo!"
