The Deborah Strauss and Jeff Warschauer Klezmer Duo will perform on Wednesday,
June 3 (this Wednesday) at Beth Sholom Congregation, 8231 Old York Road,
Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. There will be a reception at 5:00 PM. Dinner at
6:30 will be followed by the musical performance.
Violinist Deborah Strauss and guitarist, mandolinist and singer Jeff
Warschauer are among the most active and well respected performers in the
klezmer and Yiddish music scene. Drawing on their rich individual backgrounds
in klezmer music and Yiddish song, they create a performance style that is
traditionally informed, yet uniquely their own.
Deborah and Jeff can be heard on the new Ellipsis Arts CD compilation, Klezmer
Music, A Marriage of Heaven and Earth, and on Jeff's new CD, The Singing
Waltz: Klezmer Guitar and Mandolin, on the Omega Classics label. Recently,
they performed Jeff's original music as part of the off-Broadway production,
Vilna's Got A Golem, at the American Jewish Theatre. The New York Times
called their music "sprightly" and "terrific."
