New Joel Rubin album

I just finished listening to Joel Rubin's new album, "Beregovski's
Khasene-- Beregovski's Wedding" (on the Weltmusik/Wergo label) features
Rubin on clarinet & Kalman Balogh on cimbalom playing tunes collected by
Ukranian musicologist Moshe Beregovski in the 1930's. A wonderful album
(tunes & musicianship) & excellent liner notes. Comparable to Budowitz's
Mother Tounge album, though Rubin's ensemble sounds more polished-- almost
like a chamber music group in comparision to Budowitz's rougher, shtetly
edge. The two albums complement each other well.
