"Wandering Stars" CD-ROM

 A CD-Rom is in preparation which will be called "Wandering
Stars." It will be a compilation of recordings of about 200 singers of
Jewish heritage, and will contain approximately 600 complete selections,
mostly taken from rare 78's, as well as off-the-air and private
recordings, most never previously released on commercial records.

The disc will also contain biographical information, as well as pictures
of most of the singers.

The singers are mainly those who sang opera and classical songs, but
there will also be a number of cantors represented who also sang opera,
as well as those whose voices rivaled those of operatic artists. There
are a large number of rarities included among the latter group, including
recordings of the great opera singer Friedrich Schorr's father, Mayer,
who recorded about 1902. 

It is expected that the disc will be issued around April, 1998, but any
expressions of interest  will be responded to when the disc becomes
available.
