"Klezmer with a conscience
"Talk about tikkun olam. Yosl Kurland and the rest of the gang from the
Wholesale Klezmer Band believe that music has the power to repair the
world-and after hearing their music, you may agree. Sure, it's got a great
beat and you can dance to it, but a Wholesale concert is about more than
just moving your feet. With a firm grounding in the ancient Jewish values
of comjmunity and egalitarianism, Wholesale adds a little humor and social
justice-and yes, maybe a hore lesson or two. Their next performance closes
the Wednesday Folk Traditions series at the Porter-Phelps Huntington
Museum, 130 River Drive, Hadley, on Wednesday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m. in
the sunken garden. Come early with your picnic supper! Call (413)
584-4699 for more information."
