Jewish Bluegrass

Friends,

All of the songs that I have released on my last four albums are Jewish -
in that they deal with Jewish themes and ideas, and experiences of the
Jewish people.

Many of them are also universal and, as a publisher with my own publishing
company (Maplestaff), I have been able to place my songs with non-Jewish
mainstream artists and groups who record and perform them. If you think
that's a simple task - not so!

I am a rabbi and have served a conservative congregation (Beth Israel) for
the last 13 years.

I frequently play at churches and civic/community events - and I perform my
brand of Sacred Jewish Bluegrass, Jewish Gospel, Kosher Kountry, Jewish
Cowboy Music - which people enjoy very much.

Among my Hebrew bluegrass songs are Baruch El Elyon (A Shabbas song from
the siddur - prayer book, on Album 1), Torat Adonai Temimah (from Psalm 19,
in the siddur, Album 3), Hinei El Yeshuati (for Havdalah, in the siddur,
Album 3) and Adon Olom (closing song on Shabbas, in the siddur, Album 4)

My spiritual outlook is universal. I do not believe that Jews are chosen -
any more than any other people is specifically chosen. We're all chosen.
But I believe very strongly that we must continue on and have a spiritual
foundation based on teachings of the Torah, which is always capable of
being interpreted anew. Torah teachings are also very valuable as a tool
for personal growth and self-help.

I know that this is not the place for discussion of ideology.
What I write and sing may appeal to some of you. Here are the songs on my
last four albums:
