This letter was posted on the 78-l list and I was wondering if anyone on
the Jewish music group could possibly amswer these questions.
Eric Goldberg
Last night whilst cleaning and taping my Yiddishe 78s, I came across a
nice surprise: A Fyvush Finkel recording on Apollo. #138 I think it was,
I can confirm it later.
Question: did he record very much, either for Apollo or any other of the
Yiddishe labels (Jewel, Banner, et al)?
For those of you who watch television, Fyvush Finkel was the obnoxious
attorney on "Picket Fences"... and he STILL can't sing, even if he sings
Tom Lehrer in the show! (opinions are mine, YMMV)
Also, did the Barton Brothers record more than 2 2-parters for Apollo? I
like their style of Yiddishe comedy... the ones I have are "Joe & Paul"
and "Cut, Speech".
Thanks in advance!
