Dear Yoel and others,
There were a group of recordings made several years ago of the Russian
Jewish composers. I believe that one album was dedicated to Engle. I
think they were produced by a guy in Chigago. We have quite a few of the
albums in our synagogue library and I am sure you can get more info on them
by calling me or the librarian Hilde Jacob at the synagogue. The Library
is open 9-1 on Mon - Thurs, 9-12 on Sundays and 6;30-8:30pm PST on Wed.
eves. There is also a woman in Houston who has done quite a bit of
research on The Russian Jewish composers and performs their works quite
regularly. Unfortunately I have forgotten her name but you can get it from
Cantor Robert Gerber who is a reform cantor in HOuston. He has performed
with her. His shul number is (713)771-6221. I have some Engel
arrangements but they are just for voice and piano.
This woman from Houston has done research in Russia and would be able to
answer any further questions that have answers. I hav e heard her speak
and perform and she is fascinating.
Good luck
Linda Shivers
