Greetings group!
Firstly, I posted a note a couple of months ago looking for some albums by
Theo Bikel and Geula Gill, and actually was successful in tracking down
one that was missing from my collection. My thanks to all for their warm
responses.
I am a huge fan of Israeli Folk Dance music (I grew up with the classic
Fred Berk albums on Tikva Records - and I knew Fred since my mother was on
the faculty at the 92nd Street Y in New York City). I have a dumbeg (the
drum featured in this music) and play it rather well - I've had it for a
good 20 years.
I now live in Los Angeles and would love to be able to sit in with a group
who play this music or perhaps accompany a folk dance troupe and the
like. If there are any people out there who are involved in such a
"combo" or know of someone that they can put me in touch with, I would
greatly appreciate the opportunity to play.
looking forward to a positive reply......
kind regards
Theo
