Anyone in Northern NJ or greater NYC Metropolitan Area who would like to
experience the euphoria of singing Jewish music with a group of over 100
singers (SATB) is welcome to join SHIRAH, the community choir at JCC on
the Palisades. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30pm. at the
JCC, 411 East Clinton Avenue, Tenafly, NJ.
SHIRAH is a regional chorus performing 3 & 4 part ensemble works in
Hebrew, English, Yiddish, and Ladino, directed by the inimitable Matthew
Lazar (founder and director of the Zamir Choral Foundation, the National
Jewish Chorale, and more).
SHIRAH will be performing (with several other nationally recognized
Jewish choirs) in the 'Jerusalem 3000' celebration at Avery Fisher Hall
(NYC) on 6/2/96. We will also be performing in other local venues, like
the JCC on the Palisades, during this spring.
Our roster includes singers of all ages and all degrees of experience,
and we would love to have you join us. The JCC is within about half an
hour from anywhere in Bergen, Hudson, Rockland, Bronx, or Manhattan.
For more details, including phone numbers to call if you're
interested in signing up, please drop me an e-mail note.
