R202 huh? Are you related to that wonderful 'droid, R2D2??? Do you have a
real name?
On a more serious thought, this list supposedly caters to those
who wish to talk about Jewish music in general, including cantorial,
Klezmer, etc. That is, when certain obnoxious semi-literate people of
dubious lineage don't clutter it up with inane, vulgar drivel about
certain rock groups. Hint, Hint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In any case, since you are interested in Klezmer,I wish to
recommend my own band, Machaya Klezmer Band, in the Washington,
DC/Northern Virginia/Baltimore area. We now have two recordings out of
straight-ahead, old-fashioned Klezmer; no rock, no Yiddish folk songs, and
NO HAVA NAGILA!! Just very authentic, well-presented Klezmer. Our recordings
can be had from the Workman's Circle catalogue, Hatikva Music in Los
Angeles, or from us. Feel free to e-mail me privately for the snail-mail
address. I wish also to recommend a favulous recording which is not in
any catalogue: It is from Kurt Bjorling's (now with Brave Old World) Chicago
Klezmer Ensemble and is available from him: Muziker (at) aol(dot)com(dot) Happy
listening.
