Memorial to Rabin

On Sunday, 12 November at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK the Jewish
communities held a memorial and tribute to Yitzchak Rabin z"l. It was
attended by over 5,000 people and speeches were made by represenatives of
the political parties in the UK, the Chief Rabbi and other Jewish
representatives. Two choirs sang at the memorial, the Shabbaton choir
and the Oranim singers (of which I am a member).

We performed "Akedat Yitzhak" (the sacrifice of Isaac), a piece by Nomi
Shemer, which was sadly appropriate for the occasion. It is a beautiful
and powerful piece of music and it was truly amazing to sing at the Royal
Albert Hall.

Oranim is a London-based singing group under the auspices of IFDI (the
Israeli Folk Dance Institute). We meet on a weekly basis in the London
area and sing a range of Israeli and other Jewish music. If anyone wants
any further information, contact me.
