Los Angeles Jewish Symphony

In April 1994, a major event in the history and culture of Jewish life was
born -- the premiere of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony.

Opening night featured music from American Jewish Composer, conducted by
Music Director, Noreen Green. Dr. Green has an impressive background as
West Coast Music Director of the David Nowakowsky Foundation and conductor
of the American Jewish Choral Society. She is a past faculty member of
the California State University at Northridge, holding a Doctor of Musical
Arts degree from the University of Southern California.

The Symphony, founded by Dr. Richard N. Merkin provides an ideal format
for aspiring musical artists and composers to showcase their talents. It
will also act as a professional resource and an educational medium for
these artists.

Nonetheless important, little know and lost works of the Jewish culture
now have a venue to be heard and appreciated.

As Dr. Merkin said, "Music is a link from our past and a poetic
interpretation of our future. We need to keep that opne to the world".

In order to continue this formidable creation, we need contributions! We
need artists and composers! Please help us touch not only the cultural
fabric of Jewish lives in Los Angeles, but around the world.

Los Angeles Symphony is a 501C3 non-profit organization. Please contact
us if you can be of any help. We will acknowledge each contact.

Thank you.
