required listening material

The library at JTS is always looking for new materials. This time we
have a good sum of money to be invested on CD's of music relevant to the
study of chazanut.

Being that the job of the chazan has been extremely broadened as of late,
to include disciplines such as music ed and song leading, I would like to
ask the members of this discussion group for suggestions. What I would
like to compile is a list of CD's that should be required listening to
any jewish-music buff. From children songs to classical jewish music,
passing through chazanut and folk-song. Choral, instrumental,
piano-vocal, and other media.

I will then compile this list and make it public. And since this will
serve my purposes as well, I will give this list to the JTS library for
acquisition.

Thank you kindly, in advance, for your answers.

Hicki
