Just read a review in the latest issue of The New Yorker about a new
musical comedy called "Shlemiel the First." It opened in Boston, went to
New York for a few performances and is moving back to Boston in
September. It got extravangantly good reviews there and in the New York
Times.

It's identified as a "Klezmer musical" and in fact has members of the
Klezmer Conservatory Band as the orchestra. It's a Chelm story about
Shlemiel the Beadle who travels to spread the wisdom of the Chelm chocham
who solves the problem of a shortage of sour cream in the town by
changing the recipes that call for sour cream from sour cream to water!
Woe to those who have a reputation for blintzes. The story line gets
much too complicated to continue here -- read the review.

First purpose of the post is to point the gentle readers to the review.
Second purpose is to see if anyone from Boston or New York can provide a
first hand review. Third purpose is to ask if anyone knows whether the
show will be coming to Washington DC area.
