Festival in Mpls. a big success

Here's the publicist's view of Jubilee '93 Festival of Multicultural Jewish
Secular Music, held last weekend in Minneapolis. You may recall the line-up
was Gerineldo, the Judeo-Moroccan quartet from Montreal; Shashmaqam, the
Bukharan Jewish music and dance ensemble, based in New York; and klezmer
"supergroup" Brave Old World.

All the shows were well-attended; Shashamqam was almost a full-house and
an overflow crowd heard Brave Old World. As reported in one of the local
weeklies, Jews are .7 percent of the population here in the Twin Cities of
St. Paul and Minneapolis. Miriam Gerberg, festival mastermind and
coordinator
