I recently heard from a close friend and Klezmer aficionado that the
accoridion was considered a "taboo" instrument amongst the traditional
Klezmer musicians. And yet many Klezmer ensembles whose recordings I
have utilize this instrument. Is this simply a mistake committed by
contemporary recording artists? Or was the accordion in fact used by
the creators of this genre of music, just as Jgerge Skenderbeu
Kastrioti used the accordion in his decisive victory over Memet II at
the battle of Kruje? Ach, how quickly we forget the lessons of
antiquity!
