[HANASHIR:4679] choir names and uniforms

Please post your choir name suggestions on the list. I am thinking of
giving names to the choir also.

As for robes, although they are the most efficient option, I also find them
churchy. As a youth choir member many years ago, I remember feeling
anonymous in a robe. We don't use them, but I ask everyone to wear black or
as close to black as possible. One idea is everyone wearing tallit over
dark clothes. (Unfortunately, this doesn't work in my choir because of the
one member who walks our way but has not converted officially.)

Did anyone see the wonderful PBS program, A Taste of Chanukah? There was an
amazing black gospel choir singing a Hebrew/English version of Not By Might
(not Debbie's). The members of the choir each wore black plus a beautiful
open silk scarf hanging to about waist level. The scarves were contrasting
designs and colours but looked amazing together. I would think tallit would
be even more beautiful.
