[HANASHIR:4466] Chanuka songs

To all. The music teacher at our very wasp highschool has asked for
background info on the following songs. Chanuka Chug Ya'fe; Hamerot
Halulu; and Ner Li. If anyone knows anything, i wouldappreciate speedy
return. By the by, The University of Missouri Choral Union, for the
first time in living history, presented as their fall program an all
Jewish Music concert. Our Hillel Board horned in on the event with a
preconcert musicologist's lecture and a post concert party. We raised
close to $9 grand, not counting tickets to the event itself. 200voices,
and a full symphony orchestra. A Solomoni Rossi , 3 motets from
Hashirim Lishlomo; Schoenberg, a Survivor from Warsaw, opus 46; Enest
Bloch, Hebraic Suite, for viola and orch. Finished with Bloch's
Avodath Hakodesh Some of our congregants sang with the chorus,
comprised of students, faculty and townies. They had quite a time with
the last named sacred suite, singing familiar words to a different
melody. Two hundred voices and a full orchestra give me goose bumps, no
matter what they sing. Thanks for any help with the first question.
nana lister.
