[HANASHIR:4437] Re: new question re Puff

Friends--

I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud, but......

I've never been a big fan of parodies in general.(my problem, not yours) They
can, and do trap us, as Neil said. It's not that they aren't good fun, they
are. The problem is that with so good music that we never have time to teach,
why do we opt for these diversions? I recently used Larry Milder's "Levi the
Leviathan" song in my Day School(as a Halloween goof). Really big hit, to my
surprise. I told the kids, who always ask for "Puff" that there are other
good Jewish Monster songs(Halloween not withstanding) and we didn't need to
do Campfire music. Please don't get me wrong. I like parodies and they are
useful. But for teaching purposes they ARE confusing and kids DO get the
wrong idea(s) from some of them. Further, the parents of the kids often get
the wrong idea.

I am merely sharing my experience here. This HAS blown up on me before. Just
thought I'd share....

Shabbat Shalom--

Steve
