It's funny that until now I never asked my father how the pronunciation 
changed from 'Brown' to 'Brawn.'  I'm guessing that it was changed when his 
family moved to the U.S. (right after my dad's Bar Mitzvah in Germany in 
1936), but this conversation prompts me to ask him.  

Nana, my dad's family is from Breslau, too.  Braun is a pretty common German 
name, but hey, maybe we're related!   E-mail me privately if you want to talk 
about this some more.
