[HANASHIR:4196] Re: Noach

A word from the "Biggest Little State in the Union"... :) K-5 at
Alperin Schechter Day School loved "Sing a Song About a Rainbow", as did
the congregation at Temple Shalom, where we hosted 20 guests from
Trinity Episcopal Church on Friday night. Our visitors had many good
things to say about the music, and joined in easily with the song. At
school, we had a first-time event, an interdisciplinary "Noah's Ark Day"
on Wednesday, which involved integrated curriculum projects using math,
Hebrew, music and art. For the math project, each grade level did an
age-appropriate activity, from counting by two's (little ones), to
creating a pictograph of the favorite animals of all the lower school
kids, to estimating the average length of a cubit based on a sample of
adults and kids at the school, and then calculating the size of the
Ark. The entire lower school went out on a beautiful sunny day, and
stood alongside a VERY long bright orange string, a couple of blocks
long (400 plus feet, as I recall), singing the refrain of Karen's song
as they exited the school building, and then we sang it again as
everyone came back in... Each grade also did their own song, so it was
quite a lot of fun and a terrific learning experience.
