You can transcribe the work for yourself, but you may NOT distribute it to
others.
Actually, I would suggest that MOST composers do transcribe their music (or
have it transcribed) and that perhaps most of us don't try hard enough to
get it (like actually asking the artists!)

I think we may have discussed this before however, not all music we want to
share at our synagogues is available in sheet music form. Not all composers
of Jewish music are capable of transcribing their work. Where does that
leave us legally for transcribing their work and using it?
