People--let us understand what the issue REALLY is. Who cares what key you
do something in? I don't (Some composers do, however--that's why they write
in a particular key.).
THE ISSUE IS WHETHER YOU CAN FREELY DISTRIBUTE MIDI FILES WITH ONE ANOTHER.
The answer is no if the musical content of that midi file is copyrited.
Please don't misconscrue the postings on this very serious issue. Copyright
law exists to protect intellectual property which has value. The free trade
and distribution of said copyrighted property is tantemount to
stealing--even in Midi form. Even thought the technology is progressing at
a great rate, the laws are trying to keep up.
