for older kids I like using Jack Gabriel's "Ut'shuvah Ut'filah Utz'dakah" -
it teaches the meaning of the 3 words/concepts and is "cool" enuf for middle
school kids to sing.
for very young kids, there are lots of good old standards like l'shana tova ,
tapuchim ud'vash, tu tu tu tokeah, and al takeh, etc. I just listened to
Ellen & Peter Allard's CD and love the rosh hashana and Yom Kippur songs!!!
email Ellen for more info! The Yom Kippur song, al het, is particularly
nice. Ellen, are you sure you weren't a country singer in a former life?
I also like to teach some of the nusach - particularly synagogue melodies
which the congregation repeats several times (v'al kulam, v'chol maaminim,
areshet s'fateynu, etc.)
good luck,
Raquel Gershon
singer/songwriter/jewish educator/"retired" high holiday cantor/etc....
