[HANASHIR:3775] Re: suggestion from a songleader

With regard to Elliot's question to songleaders, if you wish to type up
the songs to put into a folder/binder but want to be able to add and
expand over the years, here is what I did.
I grouped the songs in catagories and "lettered" each catagory. Thus,
"A" has songs of various blessings, "B" is for the Shabbat t'filot, "C"
Shabbat, "D" Havdalah, "E" Rosh Hashana/Yom Kippur, "F" Sukkot, and so
on through the holidays in order. I have catagory "N" for general
Hebrew/Yiddish songs, and "O" for general English songs.

Adonai blessed me with enough organizing talent to make me somewhat
obsessive-compulsive about this area of my life (sometimes to the point
of driving myself nuts). I also used a spread sheet to list my
catagories, songs and page numbers within each catagory, and the source
and page number for each. I use it as my table of contents. It is
simple to add new songs without distroying the organization of the
booklet. When I want to teach/sing Hanukah songs, for example, with the
religious school, I can locate all of my choices grouped together.

What ever method you choose, enjoy your song sessions.
Shalom
Linda Sharff
