[HANASHIR:3761] Re: Question for Songleaders

Elliot -
First, it was great to see you at CAJE!

Now, re. songsheets, etc. At Temple Shalom, where I am music director, we
have a songbook which we have made for in-house use. Included in it are the
lyrics and translations for all songs, and credits re.
composers/songwriters. The songbooks are held together by brass 1" paper
fasteners, so that pages can be added. Thus, the only thing that would have
to be updated would be the table of contents.

The only drawback that we have found is that some of the booklets have come
apart after a lot of use, but they can be easily fixed up. One of my
congregants actually came up with this idea, and made all the booklets with
her son, based on a songsheet I had made. They are half-page size booklets
(8.5 x 5.5") with two holes punched. One idea we came up with at the end of
the year was to remake them this year with full size pages, 3 hole punch.
When the booklets are thinner, the fasteners tend to stay better.

Re. transparencies: some computer printers can also print onto
transparencies, saving the step of printing and then copying. Also allows
you to use color, where color xeroxing can be expensive.
