Emily (and anyone else who has similar questions)
Admission is at the disgression of the conductor, but I think you have a good 
chance of participating if you have cantorial training.  The only potentially 
"uncomfortable" part is in the beginning when each participant traditionally 
announces his/her name and where they serve as a cantor/soloist... but 
definitely do show up for the first rehearsal.  You'll probably be most 
welcome.
