[HANASHIR:2954] RE: Yamim Noraim book/set

Susan:

Make them buy it!

While I am sure someone can (and will) help you (and I would if I were not
missing my first Hava Nashira in 8? years,) I suggest that your congregation
is doing both you and itself a disservice by not purchasing the Yamim Noraim
books. The CD is optional-you may find it useful to hear some of the
pieces-but I believe there is a sampler CD that is less expensive than the
full set.

If they expect you to perform music that is included in Yamim Noraim, there
is no excuse for the congregation not ante-ing up.

First they want you to "borrow" Yamim Noraim. Then they'll want you to not
order individul copies of the choral arrangements because it's "so
expensive" and just make a photo-copy for each choir member. We all know
that is both unethical and illegal.

If we, the artists and songwriters don't support the publishers, we are only
punishing ourselves.

Subject: [HANASHIR:2952] Yamim Noraim book/set

The cantorial soloist at my temple quit rather suddenly a month ago and
it looks like I'll be learning the bulk of the high holiday music for
this year. We are a reform congregation and I understand that the only
collection of music for reform high holidays is a book/CD set called
Yamim Noraim. It's pretty expensive and I'm not sure if my temple
should buy it for me.

So, I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who's going to Hava
Nashira who also has a copy of the Yamim Noraim book and who would be
willing to bring it along so that I could take a look at it.
