I was just reminded today of my favorite Noah song: The Unicorn by Shel
Silverstein, may he rest in peace. I know that I am one of many who will
miss Silverstein's creative spirit in this world. His poetry was my 'soul
food' growing up...his spirited readings and songs as well.
the chorus of the Unicorn song goes:
There were green alligators and long-necked geese
Humpy-backed camels and chimpanzees
There were catsandratsandelephants, but sure as you're born,
The loveliest of all was the unicorn..
The song tells the story of how the Unicorns were too busy playing around
to get onto Noah's ark, and they got washed away in the flood...that's why
we never see unicorns today.
