[HANASHIR:2688] Re: song lyrics sought

OSRUI songbook, I lost the cover but it's from 197? The song was originally
in Yiddish. Thanks to Jerry Kaye who always made sure the old and traditional
songs made it to his songbooks along with the new ones. I'll bet he could
provide the Yiddish translation if you asked. Sorry I lifted the songbook.

The Partisan Song

1. Never say this present journey is your last
2. though skies that once were blue today are overcast
3. Because the long awaited time will soon arrive
4. When our marching steps will thunder "We survive" (2X , lines 3&4)

>From land of palm tree to the land of distant snow
We are here my friend in spite of pain and woe
But never think that shall shed our blood in vain
For each loss revives and strengthens us again (2x, lines 3 & 4)

It's with blood and not with ink we wrote this song
No sparrow sang it flying happily along
But in the blazzing hell of Nazi conquered lands
Our people sang this song with rifles in their hands (2x lines 3 & 4)
