[HANASHIR:2609] Re: Songleader shortage



Having recently joined the very IN 40+ crowd, I can relate!  I teach 6th
graders who are only pre-teens, and can tell you that I reach them SOMETIMES!
Last Sunday they sang a rousing round of Dayenu with me.  Other times they
just sit there.  

I think exposure to different kinds of Jewish music is important, and not JUST
the songs they "want" to hear...but also songs which give them a good basic at
least "recognition knowledge" (Oh, I know that!)that makes them feel part of
the greater Jewish community.  
Also, it's been a struggle, but my own at home teen actually thinks some of my
music is cool.  (It can happen Linda!) I do hope that some young folk do get
interested in songleading for the future, though.
