[HANASHIR:2587] Re: Songleader shortage

I'm 48 (but I don't feel a day over 47). I was a songleader in the Jersey
Federation of Temple Youth (which doesn't even exist as a NFTY region
anymore) in the late 1960s. After giving up songleading for close to 30
years, I was encouraged by my wonderful Rabbi to take it up again last year,
and now serve as volunteer lay songleader at our temple at occasional Friday
night services, Shabbat dinners, and special events. The Youth Group
requested that I song lead at a Youth Group Shabbat service earlier this
year. I am having a joyous time songleading again, and the notion that one
can be too old to songlead (at the tender age of early 40s, no less) is
incomprehensible to me.

B'Shalom,
Rob Weissman
