[HANASHIR:2580] Songleader shortage

Our temple's youth group advisor (a woman in her late 30s?) implied that
I was too old (early 40s) to serve as the youth group's songleader
because they would only respond to someone nearer to their age.
Meantime, they have no one else and so do not sing together except when
at larger events with other groups.  I have to say that my feelings were
quite hurt and I have stopped offering my music to them.  Anybody out
there with a similar experience?  Anybody out there who's "old" like me
and still manages to relate to teenagers in a youth group environment?
