Organizing songs by themes makes lots of sense.  For example:

        Holiday Songs, maybe arranged in order of the calendar
                (Hint: Start with Debbies's Birkat Halevanah!)
        Songs of Israel, with subcategories:
                Pioneer songs (early Palestine/Israel)
                Military songs
                Love songs
                Songs of hope and freedom
        Songs from the Siddur
        Songs from the Torah/Bible
        Modern songs ("New American Nusach"), such as Klepper, Friedman, Silver,
                Taubman, et al.
        Novelty songs ("Ain't Gonna Work on Saturday")
        Song parodies 
        Yiddish songs
        

These are just some ideas, including a few plagiarized from Jules Frankel and
Eli Rockowitz!
