Jewish teachers are about THE most underpaid professionals on the planet.
Salaries vary from place to place, but I think a fair estimate is about
$50 per two hour session. If you multiply this by and average of two
sessions per week over a school year, that comes out to about $3,000 per
year. Do YOU know anyone who could live on THAT?? Assume for the moment
that it WAS $100 per session. You'd still be dealing with only about
$6,000 per annum. I'm really quite flabbergasted that anyone could think
this is exorbitant and puts Jewish education out of the reach of the
average Jew.
