[HANASHIR:2312] Re: choral resources on the net

Thank you Rachelle for this endorsement of Hanashir.

It gives me an opportunity to say to the list: it's time to put all our
knowledge and resources to good use. I have attempted to put as much useful
content on the web site

http://uahc.org/hanashir

as possible. But there is lots more that could be there. Trouble is, I can't
do it all myself. So, if members of the list are willing to put together
articles, compendiums, resource lists, etc. and email the files to me, I can
format them for the web and post them to the Hava Nashira web site.

Take the time to look through the site. Send me comments on content,
suggestions for additions, changes, improvements, etc. We'll all be glad you
did!

I would also be glad to post midi and other type music files to the site,
within the restrictions of copyright law.

Some ideas for useful projects for posting at the web site:

coordinated lists of songs and resources for particular holidays and
ceremonies
reports/articles on successful use of choral materials, with resources
reviews of recordings, music books, etc.
the "meta-songster" (check out the web page for a description) - although it
would be interesting to take the meta-songster project a step further and
make it a collection of audio files as well. Be sure to check out, from the
links, the extant music archives (like Daniel Mack's service and music
archive.)

Also, we might consider a "new song sharing page" where we would post sheet
music to people's new songs (for those willing to share so openly.)

When I first started getting involved with choral conducting, I had hoped I
might benefit from the variety of choral music web sites, which included
information about symposiums, a choral music data base and an e-mail list
for choral conductors e.g.. choralnet, choralist. I discovered, not
surprisingly, that they tend to serve the needs of church choirs. The best
resource I have found for my Jewish music needs is Hanashir.
