In "The Empty Chair" (Jewish Lights, 1994) he is quoted as saying:
"The most direct means for attaching ourselves to G-d from this material
world is through music and song.
Even if you can't sing well, sing.
Sing to yourself. Sing in the
privacy of your own home.
But sing."
it's attributed to "Rabbi Nachman's Wisdom " #273(Breslov Research
Institute, 1973.)
