[HANASHIR:2239] adult choir prep

Thanks for the words of wisdom from voices of experience. I agree that the
best rehearsals are very well prepared. I am interested to know how much
prep. time other choral directors put into each rehearsal. I put in
mega-time (about 20 hours) to get organized before the first rehearsal and
expect to put in about 5 hours preparation for the next one. I have no
accompanist for rehearsals and will be the one to make the tapes, although I
have volunteers to duplicate and distribute them. I am getting paid by the
hour for my rehearsals and have been asked to keep track of my prep time so
that some kind of compensation can be arranged. I don't want to claim too
much, but the fact is I really am putting in long hours. Any comments on
what should be a reasonable amount of preparation for each rehearsal? Do
other choir leaders get compensation for this?

Thanks again. This is so helpful.
