[HANASHIR:2166] Re: Music workshops, conferences, etc.

I'll second what Judy wrote concerning CAJE. It is an excellent venue for
learning songs, strategies, and skills for musical work in the Jewish
community. Whenever I attend, I leave the conference with tons of new ideas
for my work during the year. There is a new twist this year, which I found
out about when discussing the conference with David Lamden and Lisa Soble
Ziegmann of the Columbus planning committee.

This year, the "performance" focus will be on "edu-tainment" as opposed to
entertainment. In other words, there will be an educational element to
evening (and other) programming. Rather than try to paraphrase what the
intent of the organizers is, I'll just send this to the list, and CC it to
them in hopes that they will weigh in with the real information.

Incidentally, both Lisa and David are very open, creative people, who are
interested in making some changes to the standard CAJE format (one of which I
alluded to above). They are in charge of booking the "edu-tainment", so I
would suggest that if anyone on this list is interested in performing this
summer, you might want to contact them soon.

As for myself, I am leaving tomorrow on a six-week swing through Central
America, and will be offline during that time. If you find yourself missing
some of my pithy commentary, rest assured that it will return in March.

Por ahora, yo voy en plan turistica. Que suerte, eh! Nos vemos en la
primavera....

Hasta luego....
