[HANASHIR:2142] sim shalom

Dona Nobis Pacem is attributed to Palestrina in the book SHiron L'Shalom-a
sourchebook of Jewish Songs for peace education. edited by Ann Carol Abrams and
Lucy Joan Sollogub (ED) Quote: " This Latin round, written in the Renaissance
by Palestrina, repeats over and over the same words: 'Give us peace" Both the
Hebrew and Latin renditions may be sung as a 3 part round....." There are times
when a choir sings at a service, and times when they sing in concert. Choirs
will benefit from hearing the style of the music and the polyphony, even if
they do not sing it at a service. DO it, and put it in repetoire to learn
from, if not perform some day in concert, perhaps an ecumenical Thanksgiving
concert, etc.
