To all of you seasonal cold sufferers......
>From a Cantor and an allergist's daughter - (you'd be surprised at how many
"colds" are food allergies of which you are not aware):
The best remedy is 48 hours of nothing but constant hot, hot water - no tea,
no honey, no nothing. And not just at meal times, but every waking minute, as
hot as you can stand to drink it. It's not delicious, but it does the trick.
This happens at this season not because we are singing more, but because we
are into alot of party foods, possibly into eating alot more sweets (corn
syrup sweeteners and dairy foods are big culprits) and different foods than we
get into the rest of the year. Sometimes its wheat and grains - all of our
bodies react differently to different foods. If you are skeptical, then think
of it this way. If we can put medicines in our mouth to cure us, then why is
it that we don't believe that some of the foods that we put in our mouths can
also cause reactions in our bodies.....
Try an experiment - once you are "cured" and this starts to happen again, look
at what you've been eating for the last 2-3 days. If you've been into alot of
one ingredient, i.e. dairy, pasta, sugar....then try cutting it out until you
are better. If you notice any patterns, then you are onto something that will
save you from alot of "colds" for the rest of your life.
I know this is a long posting, but it's a good message if it works for you. I
get a "cold" about once every 4 years or so, because I know my own warning
signs....
good luck, and happy new year!
