Hi Emily,
This is a situation familiar to all who sing on a regular basis. Here are
some things I can suggest from my experience:
1. Take echinacea (I have found this to be magically effective during the
last 2 busy performing weeks.)
2. Rest yourself and your voice between singing engagements. Reduce
talking. Beg off social situations where you will be forced to talk a lot
(after all you do have a cold) and refuse to talk in noisy situations where
you have to raise your voice to be heard.
3. If you need to practice your songs, try and do it silently or in a lower
key or a quiet octave lower.
4. Mike yourself when singing.
5. Remember that everyone forgives you for having a cold. It's not your
fault.
All the best.
Rachelle
